This research is intended to figure out the strategies that are implemented by national English teacher instructors in teaching reading comprehension. This qualitative study was conducted at two schools in Banda Aceh, SMA Negeri 10 Fajar Harapan and SMK Penerbangan Aceh. The participants of this study were two teachers and students. The instruments used were observation sheet and interview guide to gain the data. Based on the observation, the researcher can conclude that the strategies used by national English teacher instructors were Cooperative Learning, KWL Strategy, Discovery Learning and using media. The teachers modify the strategies in teaching depending on the material. The implementation of strategy is adapted by the teachers with the material, the purposes of learning based on the syllabus and curriculum. The teachers chose the most appropriate strategies to help the students comprehend the text well. Without using interest and appropriate strategies, the objective of learning process can not be reached well. Based on the result of the study, it can be concluded that national English teacher instructors are qualified. They have done their teaching professionally as demanded by the government.

Penelitian ini ditujukan untuk mengetahui strategi yang diterapkan oleh instruktur guru Bahasa Inggris nasional dalam mengajar reading comprehension. Penelitian kualitatif ini dilakukan di dua sekolah di Banda Aceh, yaitu SMA Negeri 10 Fajar Harapan dan SMK Penerbangan Aceh. Subjek penelitian ini adalah dua guru dan siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah lembaran observasi dan wawancara untuk memperoleh data. Berdasarkan hasil observasi, peneliti bisa mengambil kesimpulan bahwa strategi-strategi yang digunakan oleh Instruktur Guru Bahasa Inggris Nasional adalah Cooperative Learning, Straegy KWL, Discovery Learning serta menggunakan media. Guru merancang strategy dalam pembelajaran tergantung pada materi yang akan diajarkan. Penerapan strategi tersebut disesuaikan dengan materi yang akan diajarkan, serta tujuan pembelajaran sesuai dengan syllabus dan kurikulum. Pemilihan strategi yang tepat bisa membantu siswa dalam memahami teks dengan baik. Tanpa menggunakan strategi yang tepat dan menarik, sasaran dari proses pembelajaran tidak akan tercapai dengan baik. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini, penulis menyimpulkan bahwa instruktur guru Bahasa Inggris nasional sudah memenuhi syarat. Mereka sudah melaksanakan kinerja mereka dengan professional sebagaimana yang diharapkan oleh pihak pemerintah.
