Title : The Implementation of Role Play Technique in Teaching Speaking Skill (An Experimental Study at SMP Inshafuddin B.Aceh)

Speaking is considered as one of the most important skills in learning English as a foreign Language. Therefore, it is important for students to learn speaking skill to communicate easily. In this case, the students deal with some problems in English language; lack of vocabulary, lack of grammatical knowledge and inability to speak English fluently. Furthermore, this study aims to help the students improve their speaking skill by implementing Role Play technique. Role play is implemented as a technique that can help students improve their speaking ability in teaching learning process. The design of this research was experimental study using Pre-test & Post-test control group design, which mean there were chosen two classes as the experimental class and control class by using random sampling. The result of this study showed that students in the experimental class can improve their ability of each speaking aspects significantly. Meanwhile, the control class students did not show significant improvement in speaking aspects.
