study
aimed
to
describe
the
character
values
(1)
in
relation
to
God
(religious),
(2)

in
relation
to

oneself, (3) in relation to others, (4) in relation to the environment,
and (5) in relation to nationality. The data source of this research was a collection
of Peaceful-Nuanced Folklore of Aceh published by the Peace Education Program
(PPD), Banda Aceh, 2009, 185 pages. The data in this study werecollected by
documentation technique. Data were analyzed by followingsome steps, namely,
(1) reading and understanding the texts of the peaceful-nuanced folklore of Aceh,
(2) marking each part of the text, (3) determining the values of character, (4)
discussing the values of each character based on the values of the group
respectively, and (5) making conclusion by using the language of the researcher.
The character values in relation to God (religious) include, (a) thought, (b)
utterance, (c) and actions. The character values in relation to oneself include (a)
honesty, (b) responsibility, (c) discipline, (d) hard work, (e) confidence, (f)
entrepreneurship, (g) logical, critical, creative and innovative thinking, (h)
independence, (i) curiosity and (j) interest in science. The character values in
relation toothers include (a) aware of the rights and obligations to self and others,
(b) appreciate the work and achievements of others, (c) polite, (d) democratic. The
character values in relation to the environment. The values of nationality include
(a) nationalism, (b) respecting diversity. Character values in the collection of
peaceful-nuanced folklore of Acehwere delivered in two ways:direct and indirect
way. (1) The direct waycomprises of two ways, namely, (a) through the
description of the author and, (b) through the characters. (2) The indirect way of
character values delivery also has two ways, namely, (a) through events and, (b)
through conflict.
