Title  :  Enhancing Student’s Speaking Competence by Applying &#13;
Mingle Activity (An Experimental Study at Second Grade &#13;
SMPN 1 Banda Aceh)&#13;

This study was conducted to verify if Mingle Activity could enhance the students’ &#13;
speaking competence in term of pronounciation, grammar, vocabulary, fluency, and &#13;
comprehension at the second grade of SMPN 1 Banda Aceh 2016/ 2017. The method &#13;
of this study was quantitative  with experimental study. The subject of this study was &#13;
28 students from the second grade students class VIII-1. To achieve the goal of this &#13;
study, the writer  conducted the study for five  meetings. From  the result of the test, &#13;
the  writer  found  that  the  mean  score  of  pre-test  was  69.7  and  post-test  was  83.7.&#13;
From  the  results,  the  highest  percentage  in  this  study  was  fluency  in  23.7%.  Then &#13;
followed by grammar with 23.4%. The third was vocabulary with 20.3% . The forth &#13;
was pronunciation in 18.3%. The fifth, it was comprehension in 14.3%. Finally, from &#13;
analyzing  t-test  formula,  the  writer  found  that  t value&gt;ttable&#13;
with  the  value  of &#13;
19.18&gt;1.70329. It proved that the alternative hypothesis (H&#13;
a) of this study is accepted &#13;
and the null hypothesis (H&#13;
0&#13;
) is rejected.</note>
