The aim of this research is to examine whether the use of Team Pair Solo (TPS) technique can improve students’ reading skill in understanding descriptive text or  not. In order to cope with the difficulties encountered by the students in reading the above text type, pre-experimental study of one group pretest-posttest design employed by using simple random sampling. To collect the data in this study, the researcher used the test in form of multiple choices to elicit the data related to student reading ability. From the result of data reveal that the means score of post test is higher than the mean score of pre-test (72.4&gt;57.2) as well as the value of t-test is higher than t-value (6.20&gt;2.064). It implicitly means that the use of Team Pair Solo (TPS) technique has given the significant impact to improve reading ability in understanding descriptive text.&#13;
