ABSTRAK
Anak autis merupakan bagian integral dari anak berkebutuhan khusus. Penyebab autis tidak diketahui dengan pasti. Pada anak autis diduga terjadi ketidak-berfungsian sistem saraf di otak yang dapat menimbulkan masalah dalam belajar dan bahasa. Anak autis juga mempunyai masalah dalam mengembangkan kemampuan untuk memproses informasi yang diterima melalui alat peinderaan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh terapi visual terhadap perkembangan bahasa reseptif dan ekspresif pada anak autis di Sekolah Luar Biasa Cinta Mandiri Kota Lhokseumawe Penelitian bersifat quasi eksperimen dengan rancangan pretest and posttest without control atau disebut juga rancangan one group – pretest - posttest, dimana kemampuan bahasa reseptif dan ekspresif diukur sebelum dan sesudah diberikan perlakuan yaitu berupa terapi visual yang dilakukan pada 20 Februari s/d 25 Maret 2016 terhadap 15 orang anak autis . Hasil penelitian diuji dengan menggunakan t- test dependen. Dari hasil analisis pre tes menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata kemampuan bahasa reseptif pada pengukuran pertama adalah 6,93 dengan standar deviasi (SD) 1,90. Pada pengukuran post tes didapatkan rata-rata kemampuan bahasa reseptif adalah 13,20 dengan SD 1,61, atau meningkat 6,26 dengan SD 1,83. Hasil uji statistik didapatkan nilai p= 0,000 maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada perbedaan yang signifikan antara komunikasi ekspresif sebelum dan sesudah dilakukan terapi Visual Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) pada anak autis di Sekolah Luar Biasa Cinta Mandiri Kota Lhokseumawe. Dianjurkan kepada para therapist untuk melakukan Terapi visual dengan teknik PECS secara berkala dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berbahasa pada anak dengan autis.

ABSTRACT

Autism children were the integral part of the special need children. Autism aetiology was unclearly known. It was predicted that there were of nervous system in brain that might result in problem on learning and language. Autism children also have problem in develop their ability in processing informations accepted through senses. This research aim to identify the effect of visual therapy on reseptive and expressive language’s development on children with autism in the extraordinary school of cinta mandiri in lhokseumawe city. This was a quasi-experimental research with pretest and posttest without control or one group – pretest – posttest, where the ability of reseptive and expressive language’s measured before and after the intervention of visual therapy which were enrolled from February, 20 to March, 25 on 15 autism children. The data result was analyzed using t dependent test. From the pretest result shown that the average ability of receptive language was 6,93, deviation standard(DS) 1,90. On the post test, the average of receptive was 13,20, DS 1.61. There were a mean differentiation of 6.26 of pre and post test result with DS 1.83. the statistic result show that p=0.000 Therefore can be concluded that there were a significant different between expressive communication between before and after Visual Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) intervention on the autism children in extraordinary school of Cinta Mandiri Kota Lhokseumawe. It was recommended to the therapists to perform Visual Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) therapy regularly in order to improve the language ability on autism children.
