The Islam University of Ar-Raniry (UIN Ar-Raniry) is one of a public university located
in Banda Aceh. The university continues to grow within the increasing number of study
programs that affect the need for teachers (lecturers). The lecturers today are still not have a
place to stay , so a lot of lecturers are still renting a house.
The house is one of the basic human needs in addition to food and clothing. The house is
a means of living where in humans create their living space. House also be interpreted as a part
of the life being. Therefore, to fulfill all aspects of life, in terms of psychological health, social
and environmental, should it be filled with facilities and infrastructure.
The Islam University of Ar-Raniry has had lecturers housing with the number of houses
which is only about 70 homes, but do not meet the standards of housing services as listed in the
"PERMEN/PU 45/ PRT/ M/ 2007". The purpose of designing “The Lecturers Housing of UIN
Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh “ is to planning a housing that can accommodate the needs of users.
With the approach of Tropical Architecture is expected to produce concepts that are
environmentally friendly architectural design, as well as provide comfort to occupants.
