Keyword: Reading Comprehension & Reciprocal Teaching

This research is intended to find out whether Reciprocal Teaching improvedstudents’ reading comprehension. This research was conducted at SMAN 1 Ingin Jaya. The sample was taken by random the students of class XI-IA2 (Science Class). The framework undertaken is promoted by Blazer, 2007. The researcherused one group pre-test and post-test design. The technique of data collection, the researcher administered pre-test, treatment, and post-test. The technique of data analysis, the researcher used statistical formula. The mean score of pre-test was 45 and the post-test was 77.08. The finding shows that the improvement of the mean was 32.08. Futhermore, the result of calculation of t-test was 4.563, while the critical value of 0.05 significant level was 2.069 and degree of freedom is 23. T-test (4.563) was higher than t-score table (2.069). In short, Reciprocal Teaching can improve the students’ reading comprehension particularly at the second year students of SMAN 1 Ingin Jaya. Thus, this research suggests that Reciprocal Teaching might be one of an alternative technique to teach reading skill at school.
