HARRYANTO ARLEN 1202101010056 ABSTRACT This study was done to analyze the level of calcium (Ca), phosphorus (P), and magnesium (Mg) in the blood of sumatran elephants at the PKG of Saree. Samples used were blood collected from the posterior auricular vein of 6 sumatran elephants at the PKG. Samples were stored in cold temperature (4oC) and brought to the Research Laboratory in Banda Aceh for further analysis. Determination of calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium contens was done spectrophotometrically using atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS). The results showed that the average levels of calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium in the blood of sumatran elephants were 10.62 0.62 mg/dl, 5.47 0.79 mg/dl, and 2.48 0.34 mg/dl respectively. It can be concluded that calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium levels in the blood of sumatran elephants at the PKG of Saree, Aceh Besar were in the normal range of those of asian elephants. Ratio of calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium in the blood of sumatran elephants was 4:2:1 (Ca:P:Mg).
