Preschool ages is one of the most important stage is children development period. Many things that can affect this development process, one of them is the presence of chronic disease record. The routine of receiving medical administration, decreasing of daily social life or children play time, metabolism changing in children bodies, more or less can affect their growth and development. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between nephrotic syndrome towards the development impairment in children ages 2 to 6 years old in Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah dr. Zainoel Abidin Banda Aceh. The type of this research is observational analytic with cross-sectional method. The subjects were children aged 2 to 6 years old taken from Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah dr. Zainoel Abidin. Variables would be measured by using Denver Development Screening Test-II form, examined directly to the subjects and interviewed to the subjects’ parents. Data analysis was using chi-square statistical calculation. Researcher find 22 Nephrotic Syndrome kids as the subjects and 22 normal kids as the subject control. From the result showed 3 kids with 13,6% percentage from Nephrotic Syndrome subjects came to the category of “delayed-suspect” of growth also showed 2 kids with 9,1% percentage from normal kids (control) came to the category of “delayed-suspect” of growth . From the analysis of relationships between the two variables was found that there is no significant relationship between Nephrotic Syndrome and development impairment with P value = 0,1 (? > 0,05).
