Berlakunya Syariat Islam di Provinsi Aceh merupakan tantangan tersendiri yang harus dihadapi oleh mahasiswa nonmuslim Unsyiah dalam melakukan penyesuaian di lingkungan yang baru. Penyesuaian diri ini dimaksudkan agar mendapat penerimaan dari kelompok atau masyarakat. Dampak langsung dari penerimaan kelompok sosial adalah timbulnya rasa percaya diri yang tinggi. Salah satu bentuk penyesuaian yang dilakukan oleh mahasiswa nonmuslim Unsyiah adalah konformitas yaitu bertingkah laku dengan cara-cara yang dipandang wajar atau dapat diterima oleh kelompok maupun masyarakat.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat hubungan antara konformitas dengan kepercayaan diri pada mahasiswa nonmuslim Unsyiah. Sampel penelitian adalah 41 mahasiswa nonmuslim di Universitas Syiah Kuala. Adapun karakteristik sampel penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa nonmuslim serta terdaftar dan aktif sebagai mahasiswa di Universitas Syiah Kuala. Metode pengumpulan data dengan menggunakan Skala Kepercayaan Diri dan Skala Konformitas yang disusun oleh peneliti. Analisis data menggunakan teknik korelasi Pearson product moment, menunjukkan r = 0.796 dengan p = 0.000 (p < 0.01). Hal ini berarti ada korelasi positif yang signifikan antara konformitas dengan kepercayaan diri pada mahasiswa nonmuslim Unsyiah, semakin tinggi konformitas, maka kepercayaan diri pada mahasiswa nonmuslim Unsyiah semakin tinggi.

The effect of Islamic Shariah in Aceh Province is a challenge to be dealed to make adjustment in new environment by non-Muslim students in Unsyiah. This adjustment means to get acceptance from the group. The direct result of acceptance from the social group can improve the self-confidence. One of the adjustment performed by non-Muslim students in Unsyiah is conformity with well behaved in ways that are seen reasonable or accepted by a group or public. The aim of the research is to find correlation between conformity and self-confidence of non-Muslim students in Unsyiah. The samples were 41 of non-Muslim students in Unsyiah. The characteristics of sample are a non-Muslim student, active and registered as a student in Syiah Kuala University. The data were collected based on two scales, the Self-Confidence Scale and Conformity Scale. The data analysis used product moment Pearson correlation technique and it shows the correlation of r = 0.796 with p = 0.000 (p < 0. 01). This result shows a positive and significant correlation between conformity and self-confidence of non-Muslim students in Unsyiah. Therefore, the non-Muslim students in Unsyiah with higher level of conformity reported the higher level of self- confidence or otherwise.
