 <note>The objective of this study is to look at some given theories or research findings on the use of communicative approach by using information gap for teaching speaking skill. The discussion of the approach is focused on particular activity under the communicative approach, namely information gap. The study found that using information gap can promote real communication and facilitate language acquisition. This study also found that the students are highly motivated and pleased in learning English speaking. The method used in this study is library research, where data obtained from various sources were processed and described descriptively. Based on the research findings and expert’s statements, it can be suggested that information gap may be considered as one of reliable activities in teaching speaking skill. This study is expected to be useful for other English teachers and readers.&#13;
