ABSTRAK
Teripang merupakan salah satu hewan dari filum Echinodermata yang memiliki
peran secara ekologis dan ekonomis. Secara ekologis teripang berperan sebagai
deposit feeder dan secara ekonomis berperan sebagai bahan makanan yang memilki
kandungan gizi yang tinggi. Informasi mengenai jenis teripang khususnya di Aceh
Selatan sangat minim. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui jenis dan
kepadatan teripang di wilayah Kabupaten Aceh Selatan. Metode yang digunakan
dalam penelitian adalah metode transek kuadrat ukuran 1 x 1 m. Identifikasi jenis
teripang dilakukan di Laboratorium Fakultas Kelautan dan Perikanan Universitas
Syiah Kuala. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 2 jenis teripang dengan
Genus yang sama di Aceh Selatan, yaitu Holothuridea dengan jenis Holothuria
edulis dan Holothuria verrucosa. Kepadatan teripang tertinggi terdapat di stasiun 1
dengan nilai sebesar 22 ind/m
2
. Kepadatan yang terendah terdapat pada stasiun 2
dengan nilai 11 ind/m
2
. Kepadatan relatif jenis teripang Holothuria edulis pada
stasiun 3, 4 dan 5 adalah 100%, sedangkan untuk kepadatan relatif jenis Holothuria
verrucosa adalah pada stasiun 1 dengan kepadatan 53,7%. Kepadatan relatif
terendah terdapat pada stasiun 1 yaitu 46,3%.

ABSTRACT
Sea cucumber is one of the animals of Echinodermata phylum that have a role of
ecologically and economically. In ecologically, sea cucumber as a deposit feeder and
economically as foodstuffs which have high nutritional content. Information about
species of sea cucumber in particular in South Aceh is very minimal. The purpose of
this research was to identify species and density of sea cucumber at South Aceh
Regency. The method in this research was used square transect with size 1 x 1 m.
Identification species of sea cucumber was conducted in the Laboratory of Marine
and Fisheries Faculty of Syiah Kuala University. The results showed that there were
2 species of sea cucumber with the same Genus in South Aceh, namely Holothuridea
with the kind of Holothuria edulis and Holothuria verrucosa. The highest densities
of sea cucumber found at station 1 with a value of 22 ind/m
2
. The lowest density
found in the station 2 with 11 ind/m
2
. The relative density of species of sea cucumber
Holothuria edulis at stations 3, 4 and 5 were 100%, while for relative density species
of Holothuria verrucosa was at station 1 with a density of 53,7%. The lowest relative
density at station 1 with 46,3%.
