The writer uses video as alternative media to teach speaking because the students can learn how to produce the language from what they see and listen which is focused on inviting someone. This study aims at investigating whether the use of videos can improve students’ speaking ability. Quantitative method with experimental study of one group pretest-posttest design was undertaken in this study. The data obtained from oral test involving 30 second year students at class VIII-3 of SMPN 2 Banda Aceh showed the score improvements of the mean of pre-test 57.06 to 76 on posttest. The t-score value is higher than the value of t-table (t = 7.06 &gt;t_t=2.045). It means that the difference was significant, so the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and the null Hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. Therefore, the use of videos can be one of alternative teaching media used by the teacher in teaching English particularly teaching speaking in English Foreign Language (EFL) classroom.&#13;
