ABSTRAK

Perkembangan media sosial telah membawa perubahan terhadap berbagai aspek
kehidupan masyarakat, termasuk dalam pelaksanaan budaya pernikahan. Paparan
konten pernikahan modern yang terus-menerus melalui media sosial diduga
memengaruhi cara pandang masyarakat terhadap pelaksanaan tradisi Boh Gaca
sebagai salah satu warisan budaya pernikahan Aceh. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk
mengetahui pengaruh media sosial terhadap lunturnya tradisi Boh Gaca dalam
budaya pernikahan Aceh di Kota Langsa. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan
kuantitatif dengan metode survei. Populasi penelitian adalah masyarakat Kota
Langsa yang memenuhi kriteria penelitian, dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 121
responden yang ditentukan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Pengumpulan
data dilakukan melalui penyebaran kuesioner menggunakan skala Likert. Data
dianalisis menggunakan uji validitas, uji reliabilitas, uji asumsi klasik, regresi linear
sederhana, koefisien determinasi, dan uji t dengan bantuan program IBM SPSS
Statistics 25. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media sosial berpengaruh secara
signifikan terhadap lunturnya tradisi Boh Gaca dalam budaya pernikahan Aceh di
Kota Langsa. Hasil uji t memperoleh nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,000 (

ABSTRACT The rapid development of social media has brought significant changes to various aspects of society, including cultural practices in wedding ceremonies. Continuous exposure to modern wedding content on social media is presumed to influence public perceptions of the Boh Gaca tradition, one of the cultural heritages of Acehnese wedding customs. Therefore, this study aims to determine the influence of social media on the decline of the Boh Gaca tradition in Acehnese wedding culture in Langsa City. This study employed a quantitative approach using a survey method. The research population consisted of the people of Langsa City who met the research criteria, with a sample of 121 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using validity and reliability tests, classical assumption tests, simple linear regression analysis, the coefficient of determination, and the t-test with the assistance of IBM SPSS Statistics 25. The results indicate that social media has a significant influence on the decline of the Boh Gaca tradition in Acehnese wedding culture in Langsa City. The t-test produced a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating that the research hypothesis was accepted. The simple linear regression analysis yielded a correlation coefficient (R) of 0.702, suggesting a strong relationship between the variables. Meanwhile, the coefficient of determination (R Square) was 0.492, indicating that social media accounted for 49.2% of the variation in the decline of the Boh Gaca tradition, while the remaining 50.8% was influenced by other factors not examined in this study. Furthermore, the findings reveal that respondents were more frequently exposed to modern wedding content on social media than to content featuring the Boh Gaca tradition, which influenced their perceptions and preferences toward modern wedding practices.
