ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini mengkaji transformasi rumah bantuan nelayan pascatsunami 2004 di Gampong Alue Naga, Kota Banda Aceh. Pembangunan rumah bantuan pada masa rehabilitasi dan rekonstruksi dilakukan dalam skala besar dan waktu relatif singkat sehingga lebih berorientasi pada percepatan dan pemenuhan kuantitas unit dengan desain yang seragam. Kondisi tersebut menyebabkan tidak seluruh kebutuhan penghuni terakomodasi dalam rancangan awal hunian, sehingga setelah ditempati muncul berbagai perubahan sesuai dengan kebutuhan ruang dan aktivitas ekonomi keluarga. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami bentuk dan proses transformasi yang terjadi serta faktor-faktor yang melatarbelakanginya. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus terhadap enam rumah bantuan permanen yang dipilih melalui teknik kombinasi purposive sampling dan convinience sampling. Data diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis untuk mengidentifikasi pola perubahan pada masing-masing hunian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa seluruh rumah bantuan mengalami transformasi dengan tingkat yang berbeda-beda, berupa penambahan dan perluasan ruang. Perubahan tersebut dipengaruhi oleh keterbatasan kondisi awal hunian, kebutuhan ruang yang berkembang, jumlah anggota keluarga, dan aktivitas ekonomi penghuni. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa rumah bantuan pascatsunami berkembang secara bertahap sebagai bentuk adaptasi penghuni sekaligus mencerminkan peran aktif penghuni dalam mengembangkan huniannya.

ABSTRACT This study examines the transformation of post-2004 tsunami aid houses for fishermen in Gampong Alue Naga, Banda Aceh City. The construction of these aid houses during the rehabilitation and reconstruction phase was carried out on a large scale and within a relatively short timeframe; consequently, the process prioritized speed and the fulfillment of unit quotas through standardized designs. As the initial housing designs failed to fully accommodate the residents' needs, various modifications emerged after occupancy, driven by spatial requirements and the families' economic activities. This research aims to understand the forms and processes of transformation, as well as the underlying factors. A descriptive-qualitative method was employed, utilizing a case study approach focused on six permanent aid houses selected through a combination of purposive and convenience sampling. Data were gathered via observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed to identify patterns of change in each dwelling. The results indicate that all aid houses underwent transformations to varying degrees, primarily involving the addition and expansion of space. These changes were influenced by the limitations of the original housing conditions, evolving spatial needs, family size, and the residents' economic activities. The findings demonstrate that the post-tsunami aid houses evolved incrementally as a form of resident adaptation, reflecting the residents' active role in developing their own homes.
