Non-contrast head CT is a primary imaging modality for detecting neurological disorders. However, it produces relatively high ionizing radiation exposure, making dose optimization an important aspect of radiation protection. This study aimed to analyze the influence of technical parameters on patient radiation dose and compare the dose values with the Indonesian Diagnostic Reference Level (IDRL) established by the Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency of Indonesia (BAPETEN). The study was conducted at a Type A hospital using retrospective data from 50 patients aged ≥15 years who underwent non-contrast head CT examinations. The dose indicators analyzed were the Computed Tomography Dose Index volume (CTDIvol) and Dose Length Product (DLP), while the technical parameters included tube current–time product (mAs), scan time, and scan length. Relationships between variables were analyzed using Pearson correlation, and the coefficient of determination (R²) was used to assess the contribution of technical parameters to dose variation. The results showed that mAs contributed 98.79% to CTDIvol variation, whereas scan time contributed 32.82%. For DLP, scan length contributed 69.52%, scan time 77.61%, and CTDIvol 74.04%. The typical CTDIvol value was 57.32 mGy, 4.5% lower than the IDRL value (60 mGy), while the typical DLP value was 1,260 mGy•cm, 1.2% lower than the IDRL value (1,275 mGy•cm). Both values remained within the ±20% tolerance limit established by BAPETEN. These findings indicate that technical parameters substantially affect CTDIvol and DLP values, and that the examination protocol complies with the ALARA principle and BAPETEN Regulation No. 1211/K/V/2021.
