Penelitian ini berjudul “Rusdi Sufi: Biografi Sejarawan Aceh”, yang bertujuan untuk: (1) mengetahui Kehidupan Awal Rusdi Sufi. (2) mengetahui perjalanan karier Rusdi Sufi. (3) mengetahui peran Rusdi Sufi dalam bidang sejarah dan budaya Aceh. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode sejarah yang bersifat deskriptif analisis. Teknik pengumpulan data, dilakukan dengan cara tinjauan Pustaka, dokumentasi, dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian adalah: (1) Rusdi Sufi lahir di Banda Aceh pada tahun 1944 dan tumbuh dalam lingkungan keluarga yang mendukung pendidikan. Ketertarikannya terhadap sejarah berkembang sejak masa pendidikan dan semakin menguat selama menempuh studi di Universitas Gadjah Mada. (2) Dalam perjalanan kariernya, Rusdi Sufi berperan sebagai dosen, dan menduduki berbagai jabatan strategis, seperti Kepala Balai Kajian Sejarah dan Nilai Tradisional Banda Aceh, Arsip Nasional Wilayah Provinsi Daerah Istimewa Aceh dan Sumatera Utara, Direktur Pusat Dokumentasi dan Informasi Aceh (PDIA), perwakilan resmi Stichting Peutjut Fonds, serta pemangku adat di Majelis Adat Aceh. (3) Kontribusinya dalam bidang sejarah dan budaya Aceh diwujudkan melalui karyanya, Rusdi Sufi menulis 122 buku tentang Aceh, baik mandiri maupun kolaboratif, terlibat dalam penyusunan buku induk nasional, aktif menulis artikel, keterlibatan dalam pelestarian aset-aset sejarah, serta perannya sebagai narasumber dalam seminar kesejarahan yang membuahkan berbagai penghargaan.

Aldi Muqthada. (2025). Rusdi Sufi: Biography of an Acehnese Historian. [Undergraduate Thesis. Universitas Syiah Kuala]. Supervised by Drs. Zulfan, M.Hum., and Muhammad Haikal, S.Pd., M.Pd. This study entitled “Rusdi Sufi: Biography of an Acehnese Historian” aims to: (1) examine the early life of Rusdi Sufi; (2) analyze his career trajectory; and (3) identify his role in the field of Acehnese history and culture. This research employs a qualitative approach using a descriptive-analytical historical method. Data were collected through literature review, documentation, and interviews. The findings reveal that: (1) Rusdi Sufi was born in Banda Aceh in 1944 and grew up in a family environment that strongly supported education. His interest in history developed during his early education and became more profound while studying at Universitas Gadjah Mada. (2) Throughout his career, Rusdi Sufi served as a lecturer and held various strategic positions, including Head of the Banda Aceh Center for Historical and Traditional Values Studies, Head of the National Archives Office for the Special Region of Aceh and North Sumatra, Director of the Aceh Documentation and Information Center (PDIA), representative of Stichting Peutjut Fonds, and a customary leader at the Aceh Adat Council. (3) His contributions to Acehnese history and culture were realized through his scholarly works. Rusdi Sufi authored 122 books on Aceh, both individually and collaboratively, was involved in the preparation of national reference books, actively wrote articles, participated in the preservation of historical assets, and served as a resource person in historical seminars, which earned him various awards.
