Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji efektivitas penggunaan aplikasi LingQ dalam meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman menyimak siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain pre-eksperimental berupa one-group pre-test dan post-test. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari 28 siswa kelas dua SMAN 1 Bandar Dua Pidie Jaya. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes pemahaman menyimak yang diberikan sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan. Hasil pre-test menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan pemahaman menyimak siswa masih tergolong rendah, di mana sebagian besar siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami bahasa Inggris lisan. Setelah penerapan pembelajaran menyimak menggunakan aplikasi LingQ, hasil post-test menunjukkan adanya peningkatan yang signifikan dalam kemampuan pemahaman menyimak siswa. Analisis statistik menggunakan Uji Wilcoxon Signed-Rank menunjukkan bahwa seluruh siswa memperoleh skor yang lebih tinggi pada post-test dibandingkan pre-test, tanpa adanya nilai negatif maupun nilai yang sama. Nilai signifikansi (p < 0,05) menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang signifikan secara statistik antara hasil pre-test dan post-test. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa aplikasi LingQ efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman menyimak siswa. Fitur-fitur aplikasi, seperti materi audio autentik, dukungan transkrip, bantuan kosakata, dan latihan mendengarkan berulang, memberikan kontribusi positif terhadap hasil belajar siswa. Oleh karena itu, LingQ dapat dijadikan sebagai alternatif media pembelajaran yang efektif dalam pengajaran menyimak di kelas EFL.

Gani, M.A and Dr. Siti Sarah Fitriani, S.Pd., M.A. This study investigated the effectiveness of the LingQ application in improving students’ listening comprehension. The research employed a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental design with one-group pre-test and post-test. The participants were 28 second-grade students of SMAN 1 Bandar Dua Pidie Jaya. Data were collected through listening comprehension tests administered before and after the treatment. The pre-test results indicated that the students’ listening comprehension ability was generally low, with most students experiencing difficulties in understanding spoken English. After the implementation of listening instruction using the LingQ application, the post-test results showed a significant improvement in students’ listening comprehension. Statistical analysis using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test revealed that all students achieved higher scores in the post-test than in the pre-test, with no negative ranks or ties. The significance value (p < 0.05) indicated a statistically significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores. These findings demonstrate that the LingQ application is effective in improving students’ listening comprehension. The application’s features, such as authentic audio materials, transcript support, vocabulary assistance, and repeated listening practice, contributed positively to students’ learning outcomes. Therefore, LingQ can be considered an effective alternative learning medium for teaching listening comprehension in EFL classrooms.
