Pembelajaran fisika berperan penting dalam melatih kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa sebagai keterampilan abad ke-21. Namun, hasil observasi menunjukkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa masih rendah karena pembelajaran cenderung teoritis tanpa pengalaman pemecahan masalah kontekstual. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran problem based learning (PBL) berbasis STEM terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah fisika di SMA. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode quasi experiment dengan desain Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas X SMAN 1 Ingin Jaya dengan teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan purposive sampling yang terdiri atas dua kelas, yaitu kelas X-1 sebagai kelas eksperimen (31 siswa) dan kelas X-3 sebagai kelas kontrol (32 siswa). Pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah berbentuk essay serta angket respon siswa. Teknik analisis data menggunakan uji N-gain dan uji independent sample t-test dengan taraf signifikan 0,05 setelah pengujian prasyart terpenuhi. Berdasarkan uji N-gain diperoleh skor N-gain pada kelas eksperimen sebesar 0,72 dengan kategori tinggi dan skor N-gain kelas kontrol sebesar 0,42 dengan kategori sedang. Berdasarkan uji independent sample t-test pada nilai posttest diperoleh nilai t_hitung (8,483) > t_tabel (1,999) maka H_1 diterima. Hal ini menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan signifikan tingkat kemampuan pemecahan masalah fisika antara kelas eksperimen dengan kelas kontrol, Selain itu, respon siswa terhadap LKPD PBL berbasis STEM termasuk sangat positif dengan persentase 81,45%. Dengan demikian, disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh model problem based learning berbasis STEM untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah fisika di SMA.

Physics learning plays an important role in developing students’ problem-solving skills as one of the essential competencies of the 21st century. However, observational results indicate that students’ problem-solving skills remain low because learning tends to be theoretical and lacks contextual problem-solving experiences. This study aims to determine the effect of the STEM-based Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on students’ physics problem-solving skills at the senior high school level. This study employed a quasi-experimental method with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The research population consisted of all tenth-grade students of SMAN 1 Ingin Jaya, with samples selected using purposive sampling, comprising two classes: class X-1 as the experimental group (31 students) and class X-3 as the control group (32 students). Data were collected using an essay-type problem-solving skills test and a student response questionnaire. Data analysis techniques included the N-gain test and the independent sample t-test with a significance level of 0.05 after the prerequisite tests were fulfilled. The N-gain analysis showed that the experimental group achieved an N-gain score of 0.72 in the high category, while the control group obtained an N-gain score of 0.42 in the medium category. Furthermore, the independent sample t-test on posttest scores indicated that the calculated t-value (8.483) was greater than the t-table value (1.999), thus H_1was accepted. These results indicate a significant difference in physics problem-solving skills between the experimental and control groups. In addition, students’ responses toward the STEM-based PBL worksheets were categorized as very positive, with a percentage of 81.45%. Therefore, it can be concluded that the STEM-based Problem Based Learning model has a significant effect on improving students’ physics problem-solving skills at the senior high school level.
