<note>Banda Aceh City, as an urban area prone to disasters, faces complex challenges in managing high-quality, equitable, and multifunctional green open spaces (GOS). Rapid urbanization, limited land availability, and unequal access to green areas have eroded the ecological and social functions of GOS. Yet, GOS play a strategic role not only as an environmental buffer but also as a pillar for improving social well-being, enhancing the economic value of urban areas, and strengthening disaster mitigation capacity. This study aims to examine strategies for improving environmental quality through the optimization of socio-economic, biophysical, and disaster mitigation aspects in Banda Aceh City Park, as well as to formulate relevant and sustainable management strategies. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining quantitative analysis using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to measure the relationships among variables, and qualitative analysis using SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) techniques based on IFAS and EFAS matrices. The results of the SEM analysis show that disaster mitigation is the most dominant and significant factor on the quality of green open space (β = 0.906; p = 0.049), while socio-economic (β = 0.251; p = 0.684) and biophysical (β = -0.214; p = 0.769) aspects have no significant effect. Strategic recommendations derived from the study include: (1) optimizing GOS to reach 30% in accordance with national standards,
(2) improving accessibility and multifunctionality of GOS, and (3) fostering multi-stakeholder collaboration in management through technology and local wisdom. This study provides both scientific and practical contributions to inclusive, resilient, and sustainable urban development, particularly in disaster-prone areas such as Banda Aceh. Future research may explore the integration of GOS into green city approaches to enhance mitigation and climate change adaptation functions.
