ABSTRAK
Akulturasi budaya antara masyarakat Aceh dan etnis Tionghoa di Gampong
Peunayong, Kota Banda Aceh, menarik dikaji karena berlangsung di tengah
perbedaan budaya, agama, dan etnis, namun tetap memperlihatkan hubungan sosial
yang harmonis. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui proses akulturasi yang terjadi
serta dampaknya terhadap kehidupan sosial, ekonomi, bahasa, kesenian, dan mata
pencaharian masyarakat di Peunayong.Penelitian ini menggunakan metode
kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara
mendalam dengan tokoh masyarakat, warga Aceh dan Tionghoa, serta aparat
gampong, kemudian diperkuat dengan observasi dan dokumentasi. Analisis data
dilakukan melalui reduksi, penyajian, dan penarikan kesimpulan.Hasil penelitian
menunjukkan bahwa akulturasi berlangsung secara dua arah. Etnis Tionghoa
menyesuaikan diri dengan budaya Aceh, seperti menggunakan bahasa Aceh,
mengikuti norma berpakaian, serta berpartisipasi dalam kegiatan sosial dan
keagamaan. Sebaliknya, masyarakat Aceh menunjukkan keterbukaan dengan
memberikan ruang bagi etnis Tionghoa mempertahankan tradisi mereka, misalnya
perayaan Imlek, Cap Go Meh, serta kesenian barongsai yang kini dipadukan dengan
unsur budaya Aceh. Dalam bidang ekonomi, etnis Tionghoa berperan penting
sebagai pelaku usaha dan perdagangan, sekaligus membuka lapangan kerja bagi
masyarakat Aceh.

ABSTRACT The cultural acculturation between the Acehnese and the Chinese ethnic community in Gampong Peunayong, Banda Aceh, is an interesting phenomenon to study because it occurs amidst differences in culture, religion, and ethnicity, yet still reflects harmonious social relations. This research aims to explore the process of cultural acculturation and its impact on the social, economic, linguistic, artistic, and livelihood aspects of the community in Peunayong. This study employed a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through in- depth interviews with community leaders, Acehnese and Chinese residents, as well as village officials, and were supported by observation and documentation. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the acculturation process occurs in two directions. The Chinese community adapts to Acehnese culture by using the Acehnese language, following local dress norms, and participating in social and religious activities. On the other hand, the Acehnese community shows openness by providing space for the Chinese to maintain their traditions, such as the celebration of Chinese New Year, Cap Go Meh, and the barongsai performance, which is now combined with Acehnese cultural elements. In the economic sphere, the Chinese play a significant role as entrepreneurs and traders, while also creating employment opportunities for the Acehnese community.
