Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya hasil belajar matematika siswa pada materi geometri di kelas VIII SMPN 2 Darul Imarah, khususnya pada materi segitiga, segiempat, dan garis sejajar. Proses pembelajaran yang masih berpusat pada guru menyebabkan siswa kurang aktif, sehingga pemahaman konsep geometri belum optimal. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan model pembelajaran yang mampu meningkatkan keaktifan siswa dan efektivitas pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas penerapan model Learning Cycle 5E pada pembelajaran geometri di kelas VIII SMPN 2 Darul Imarah. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian eksperimen semu (pre-experimental design) menggunakan desain one shot case study. Subjek penelitian adalah 25 siswa kelas VIII-B. Instrumen penelitian meliputi lembar observasi kemampuan guru, lembar observasi aktivitas siswa, angket respons siswa, dan tes hasil belajar. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif kuantitatif melalui perhitungan rata-rata, persentase, ketuntasan belajar individual dan klasikal, serta uji statistik pendukung. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan guru dalam mengelola pembelajaran berada pada kategori baik dengan nilai rata-rata 3,35. Aktivitas siswa selama pembelajaran tergolong baik dengan nilai rata-rata 3,48. Respons siswa terhadap pembelajaran Learning Cycle 5E berada pada kategori positif dengan persentase rata-rata 78,88%. Hasil tes belajar menunjukkan bahwa 23 dari 25 siswa mencapai nilai di atas KKM (72), sehingga ketuntasan klasikal mencapai 92% dan memenuhi kriteria ketuntasan klasikal ≥ 85%.Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan model Learning Cycle 5E efektif digunakan pada pembelajaran geometri di kelas VIII SMPN 2 Darul Imarah. Model ini disarankan untuk digunakan sebagai alternatif pembelajaran matematika guna meningkatkan keaktifan dan hasil belajar siswa pada materi geometri maupun materi matematika lainnya.

Under the guidance of Dr. Drs. Anwar, M.Pd. and Dewi Annisa, S.Pd., M.Pd. This study was motivated by the low mathematics learning outcomes of eighth-grade students at SMPN 2 Darul Imarah, particularly in geometry topics such as triangles, quadrilaterals, and parallel lines. The learning process, which tended to be teacher-centered, resulted in low student participation and limited conceptual understanding. Therefore, an instructional model that promotes active learning and improves instructional effectiveness was needed. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of implementing the 5E Learning Cycle model in geometry instruction for eighth-grade students at SMPN 2 Darul Imarah. The study employed a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental design with a one-shot case study. The research subjects consisted of 25 students from class VIII-B. The research instruments included a teacher performance observation sheet, a student activity observation sheet, a student response questionnaire, and a learning achievement test. Data were analyzed descriptively and quantitatively by calculating means, percentages, individual and classical mastery learning, and supporting statistical analyses. The results showed that the teacher’s ability to manage learning was categorized as good, with an average score of 3.35. Student learning activities were also categorized as good, with an average score of 3.48. Student responses to the 5E Learning Cycle model were positive, with an average percentage of 78.88%. The learning achievement test results indicated that 23 out of 25 students achieved scores above the minimum mastery criterion (72), resulting in a classical mastery level of 92%, which exceeded the required standard of 85%. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the implementation of the 5E Learning Cycle model is effective in geometry learning for eighth-grade students at SMPN 2 Darul Imarah. This model is recommended as an alternative instructional approach to enhance student engagement and improve learning outcomes in geometry and other mathematics topics.
