Aceh Singkil memiliki beragam motif hias, salah satunya motif gigi buaya. Motif
gigi buaya ini masih kurang dikenal dan belum banyak diaplikasikan dalam industri
fashion, terutama dalam busana kerja, yang semakin diminati dikalangan
profesional. Kalangan muda atau masyarakat saat ini banyak yang tidak mengenal
lagi motif khas Aceh Singkil terutama motif gigi buaya (Epen buaya). Penelitian
ini bertujuan untuk mendesain motif gigi buaya yang akan diaplikasikan
menggunakan teknik batik, membuat produk batik dengan motif gigi buaya yang
akan diterapkan pada busana kerja, dan mengetahui tanggapan remaja atau
masyarakat yang berasal dari Aceh Singkil terhadap busana kerja dengan
pengaplikasian teknik batik motif gigi buaya. Metode yang digunakan dalam
penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimen terapan dengan pendekatan kualitatif.
Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara mendalam dengan remaja
atau masyarakat Singkil, tokoh adat yang paham dengan makna simbolik motif gigi
buaya, dan penjahit atau pengrajin, serta dokumentasi terhadap proses perancangan
dan produksi. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengembangan motif gigi
buaya melalui teknik batik yang diterapkan pada busana kerja tidak hanya berfungsi
sebagai elemen estetika, tetapi juga mengandung nilai-nilai budaya lokal pada
busana kerja. Peneliti telah berhasil merancang 2 produk busana kerja dengan motif
yang berbeda, menggunakan teknik batik tulis sebagai alat utama penerapan desain
motif gigi buaya. Setiap desain memiliki ciri khas tersendiri baik dari segi bentuk,
warna, maupun elemen lainnya, sehingga dapat mencerminkan motif gigi buaya
dengan tidak menghilangkan ciri khas keasliannya. Tanggapan dari seluruh
informan menunjukkan apresiasi yang positif terhadap hasil akhir produk, dengan
harapan produk tersebut dapat berkonstribusi pada pelestarian budaya lokal.
Sebagian besar menyatakan ketertarikan mengenakan pakaian kerja batik peneliti
diharapkan untuk tetap berkarya, dan mendorong pelestarian motif-motif lokal
melalui inovasi busana, dan meningkatkan peran ekonomi kreatif daerah.

Aceh Singkil has a variety of decorative motifs, one of which is the crocodile tooth motif. This crocodile tooth motif is still relatively unknown and has not been widely applied in the fashion industry, especially in workwear, which is increasingly popular among professionals. Many young people and the general public are no longer familiar with the distinctive motifs of Aceh Singkil, especially the crocodile tooth motif (Epen buaya). This study aims to design a crocodile tooth motif to be applied using the batik technique, create batik products with crocodile tooth motifs to be applied to workwear, and determine the response of young people or the community from Aceh Singkil to workwear with the application of the crocodile tooth motif batik technique. The method used in this study is an applied experimental method with a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques were carried out through in-depth interviews with teenagers or the Singkil community, traditional leaders who understand the symbolic meaning of the crocodile tooth motif, and tailors or craftsmen, as well as documentation of the design and production processes. The results of the study show that the development of the crocodile tooth motif through the batik technique applied to work clothes not only functions as an aesthetic element but also contains local cultural values in work clothes. The researchers successfully designed two workwear products with different motifs, using hand-drawn batik techniques as the main tool for applying the crocodile tooth motif design. Each design has its own characteristics in terms of shape, color, and other elements, so that it can reflect the crocodile tooth motif without losing its original characteristics. The responses from all informants showed positive appreciation for the final product, with the hope that the product could contribute to the preservation of local culture. Most expressed interest in wearing the researchers' batik work clothes and hoped that the researchers would continue their work, encouraging the preservation of local motifs through clothing innovation and enhancing the role of the regional creative economy.
