The duration of diabetes is an important risk factor in the development of diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN). In the early stages of nerve damage, patients with DPN are often asymptomatic, leading to delayed diagnosis. This quantitative study aimed to analyse the relationship between the duration of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) and the severity of diabetic peripheral neuropathy. This was an analytical quantitative study with a cross-sectional design involving 45 patients selected through consecutive sampling. Data were collected using the Neuropathy Symptom Score (NSS) through guided interviews and analysed using the Spearman correlation test. The results showed that most patients were aged 51–60 years (35.6%), female (62.2%), and duration of diabetes < 5 years (40%). A significant relationship was found between the duration of diabetes and the severity of diabetic peripheral neuropathy among T2DM patients (p = 0.006, r = 0.400).
