 <note>The descriptive research  objectived to study   status of  groundwater  quality caused by domestic wastewater  both tsunami-unaffected area and tsunami-affected area in Banda Aceh.&#13;
The groundwater sampling points were chosen with random sampling for 21&#13;
points. The chemical and physical characteristics have been  analyzed by method of chemical and physical parameters, and results of the research compared with standard of drinking  water quality  (Class  I,  the Government  Regulation  of the Republic  of Indonesia, Number  82, 2001).  The status of the groundwater  quality determined by using STORET method.&#13;
Results of the research showed that the groundwater have happened pollution at some of the area in Banda  Aceh which marked  with some of the physical  and chemical  characteristic  changes. The groundwater  physical  characteristic    change, that is smelled and also the chemical characteristics change are PO, and fat &amp; oil at tsunami-unaffected   area.  Where  as  at  tsunami-affected   area,  all  of the  physical characteristics are changed except total dissolved solids (TDS), and also the chemical characteristis  change are BOD,, COD, NH5, NO,  PO; and fat &amp; oil.  Therefore, the status of thc groundwater  quality  at tsunami-unaffected  area  is medium  pollution, where  as  at  tsunami-affected  area  is  weight  pollution.    Generally,  status  of the groundwater quality in Banda Aceh is weight pollution.&#13;
