Pemilihan umum di Indonesia yang berfungsi sebagai sarana penyerahan kekuasaan dan pendidikan politik bagi masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi pengaruh signifikan antara popularitas H. Sudirman terhadap kekalahannya dalam Pemilu DPD RI Tahun 2024 di Kabupaten Aceh Barat. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kuantitatif dengan teknik cluster random sampling, melibatkan 126 responden dari populasi pemilih. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya pengaruh signifikan antara popularitas H. Sudirman dan kekalahan DPD RI, di mana hanya 30.1% variasi hasil pemilu dapat dijelaskan oleh popularitasnya. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa faktor lain, seperti strategi kampanye dan pengaruh kompetitor lokal, juga berperan penting. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa popularitas tinggi tidak menjamin dukungan politik yang kuat. Saran yang diberikan adalah agar partai politik melakukan analisis kebutuhan masyarakat, memperkuat komunikasi transparan, dan melakukan penelitian lebih lanjut mengenai faktor-faktor eksternal yang memengaruhi pemilih.

General elections in Indonesia serve as a means of transferring power and political education for the community. This study aims to identify the significant influence between H. Sudirman's popularity and his defeat in the 2024 DPD RI Election in West Aceh Regency. The method used is a quantitative approach with cluster random sampling technique, involving 126 respondents from the voter population. The results of the study indicate a significant influence between H. Sudirman's popularity and the defeat of the DPD RI, where only 30.1% of the variation in election results can be explained by his popularity. The results of this study indicate that other factors, such as campaign strategy and public perception, also play an important role. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that high popularity does not guarantee strong political support. The suggestions given are for political parties to conduct an analysis of community needs, strengthen transparent communication, and conduct further research on external factors that influence voters.
