Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bentuk dan fungsi eufemisme dan disfemisme dalam debat calon gubernur dan calon wakil gubernur Aceh tahun 2024. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah sumber data dan data. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah data verbal yang diperoleh secara lisan dari debat calon gubernur dan calon wakil gubernur Aceh tahun 2024 dalam kanal YouTube KompasTV Aceh. Data dalam penelitian ini berupa kata, frasa, dan kalimat yang mengandung eufemisme dan disfemisme dalam debat calon gubernur dan calon wakil gubernur Aceh tahun 2024. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik dokumentasi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ditemukan data sebanyak 18 eufemisme yang terdiri dari 4 bentuk, yaitu eufemisme berupa perifrase atau perifrasis, eufemisme berupa kata serapan, eufemisme berupa istilah asing, dan eufemisme berupa metafora. Fungsi eufemisme ditemukan sebanyak 2 fungsi yaitu sebagai alat untuk menghaluskan ucapan dan alat untuk berdiplomasi. Bentuk disfemisme ditemukan sebanyak 8 data yang terdiri dari 3 bentuk, yaitu difemisme berupa kata, disfemisme berupa frasa, dan disfemisme berupa idiom. Fungsi disfemisme ditemukan sebanyak 3 fungsi, yaitu sebagai alat untuk menyatakan rasa tidak suka atau benci, alat untuk menghina atau mencela dan mengolok-olok, dan alat untuk penggambaran negatif. Simpulan dari penelitian ini adalah debat calon gubernur dan calon wakil gubernur Aceh tahun 2024 banyak digunakan eufemisme untuk memperhalus ungkapan agar tidak menyinggung pendengar, sedangkan disfemisme cenderung merendahkan dan berpotensi menyinggung pendengar. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi referensi dalam pengkajian ilmu semantik, khususnya pada pemanfaatan eufemisme dan disfemisme dalam komunikasi publik.

This research aims to describe the forms and functions of euphemism and dysphemism in the 2024 Aceh gubernatorial and vice-gubernatorial debates. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method. The subjects in this research are the sources of data and the data. The sources of data in this research are verbal data obtained orally from the 2024 Aceh gubernatorial and vice-gubernatorial debates on the KompasTV Aceh YouTube channel. The data in this research are words, phrases, and sentences that contain euphemisms and dysphemisms in the 2024 Aceh gubernatorial and vice-gubernatorial debates. The data collection technique in this research is documentation. Based on the results of the research, 18 euphemisms were found consisting of 4 forms, namely euphemisms in the form of periphrasis, euphemisms in the form of loanwords, euphemisms in the form of foreign terms, and euphemisms in the form of metaphors. The functions of euphemism were found in 2 functions, namely as a tool to soften expressions and as a tool for diplomacy. The forms of dysphemism found were 8 data consisting of 3 forms, namely dysphemism in the form of words, dysphemism in the form of phrases, and dysphemism in the form of idioms. The functions of dysphemism were found in 3 functions, namely as a tool to express dislike or hatred, as a tool to insult or mock, and as a tool for negative portrayal. The conclusion of this research is that the 2024 Aceh gubernatorial and vice-gubernatorial debates widely used euphemisms to soften expressions in order not to offend the audience, while dysphemisms tended to be derogatory and potentially offensive to the audience. This research is expected to be a reference in the study of semantics, especially in the use of euphemism and dysphemism in public communication.
