<note>This qualitative descriptive research aims to explore the challenges faced during the
implementation of the English Day Program (EDP) at senior high school Harapan
Persada Blang Pidie and to identify the strategies used by teachers, students, and
school staff to overcome these challenges. The data were collected through interviews
with the principal, teachers, and students, as well as observation of program activities.
The interview sessions were recorded, transcribed, and analyzed to identify common
themes related to psychological, infrastructural, and organizational challenges, along
with the strategies employed to enhance the program’s effectiveness. The findings
revealed that students experienced psychological barriers such as anxiety and low
confidence, while infrastructural limitations also affected participation. Teachers and
school administrators responded by encouraging, creating engaging activities, and
optimizing available resources. The results suggest that a supportive environment,
continuous motivation, and resource management are crucial for the success of English
Day Program. This study provides insights into effective approaches for implementing
English language programs in secondary schools to improve students’ speaking skills
and overall engagement.
