Penelitian Skripsi ini berjudul “Perkembangan Pasar Hewan Cot Iri, Aceh Besar (2006-2024)”. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) Mengetahui Bagaimana Sejarah Berdirinya Pasar Hewan Cot Iri, Aceh Besar; (2) Mengetahui Bagaimana Perkembangan Pasar Hewan Cot Iri, Aceh Besar dari tahun 2006-2024; (3) Apa Saja Faktor – Faktor Penyebab Pasar Hewan Cot Iri, Aceh Besar masih aktif hingga sekarang. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Sejarah dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Langkah kerja atau tahapan dalam penelitian Sejarah terdiri dari pemilihan topik, pengumpulan sumber, verifikasi, interpretasi, dan historiografi. Teknik pengumpulan sumber/data dilakukan dengan dokumentasi, wawancara dan studi kepustakaan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian: (1) Pasar hewan Cot Iri didirikan pada tahun 2006 oleh Pemerintah Kabupaten Aceh Besar sebagai respon atas ketidaklayakan Pasar Hewan Ceurih yang berada di lahan milik warga. Setelah mengalami beberapa kali relokasi dari tahun 1964, Pemerintah menetapkan lahan pasar hewan yang baru di Desa Lampermai, Krueng Barona Jaya, yang dibeli dan dikelola langsung oleh Pemerintah Kabupaten Aceh Besar. Pasar ini diresmikan pada 31 Desember 2007 dan hingga kini menjadi pusat perdagangan hewan ternak di Aceh Besar. (2) Perkembangan Pasar Hewan Cot Iri cukup stabil, baik dari segi sarana dan prasarana maupun aktivitas jual beli di pasar. Pada tahun 2006 – 2010 merupakan masa perintisan pasar hewan cot iri. Pembangunan fasilitas dasar dilakukan hingga di resmikan pada tahun 2007, aktivitas meningkat dan menjadi pusat ekonomi warga lokal. Pada tahun 2011-2012 pasar mulai dikenal luas oleh Masyarakat di Aceh, pedagang dari luar daerah mulai menjajakan hewan ternaknya di pasar hewan cot iri. Pemerintah menambah fasilitas, seperti area kendang dan area pedagangan non-ternak diluar pasar utama. Pada tahun 2013-2024 terjadi peningkatan aktivitas dan penjualan, bantuan dari pemerintah untuk menarik minat Masyarakat ke pasar hean cot iri, dan pada 2022 terdampak virus PMK sehingga pasar ditutup sementara, setelah penanggulangan wabah virus tersebut, pasar Kembali dibuka pada 2023. Dan (3) Faktor – Faktor yang mempengaruhi perkembangan pasar hewan cot iri dipengaruhi oleh aktivitas Masyarakat, penetapan hari pasar pada hari sabtu, dan peran pemerintah daerah.

This thesis is entitled “The Development of Cot Iri Livestock Market, Aceh Besar (2006–2024)”. The objectives of this research are: (1) To find out the history of the establishment of Cot Iri Livestock Market, Aceh Besar; (2) To understand the development of Cot Iri Livestock Market, Aceh Besar from 2006 to 2024; (3) To identify the factors that have contributed to the continued activity of the Cot Iri Livestock Market until today. This study uses the historical method with a qualitative approach. The stages of historical research include topic selection, source collection, verification, interpretation, and historiography. Data collection techniques used in this study include documentation, interviews, and literature review. Based on the research findings: (1) Cot Iri Livestock Market was established in 2006 by the Government of Aceh Besar Regency as a response to the unfeasible condition of the Ceurih Livestock Market, which was located on privately owned land. After undergoing several relocations since 1964, the government finally designated a new market area in Lampermai Village, Krueng Barona Jaya, which was purchased and is directly managed by the Aceh Besar Regency Government. The market was officially inaugurated on December 31, 2007, and has since become the livestock trading center in Aceh Besar. (2) The development of Cot Iri Livestock Market has been relatively stable in terms of facilities and trading activities. The period from 2006 to 2010 marked the pioneering phase, during which basic facilities were constructed and the market was inaugurated in 2007. Trading activities increased, turning the market into a local economic hub. From 2011 to 2012, the market began to gain wider recognition in Aceh, with traders from other regions starting to sell their livestock there. The government added more facilities, such as pens and non-livestock trading areas outside the main market. Between 2013 and 2024, market activity and sales increased further, aided by government support to attract the public to the market. In 2022, the market was temporarily closed due to the outbreak of the Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) virus, but it was reopened in 2023 after the virus was brought under control. (3) The development of Cot Iri Livestock Market has been influenced by community activities, the designation of Saturday as market day, and the role of the local government.
