Free radicals play a role in various health problems, thus exogenous antioxidants are needed. Medicated oil is a formulation based on essential oil mixtures that have potential as exogenous antioxidants. This study aims to determine the physicochemical characteristics of single essential oils (bergamot, nutmeg, sandalwood, patchouli, and sunflower seed oil), evaluate medicated oil preparations (F1; F2; F3; F4 and F5), and determine the antioxidant activity of both single essential oils and medicated oil preparations using the ABTS method. Results showed variations in the antioxidant activity of single essential oils: nutmeg (IC₅₀ 11.06 ppm) and patchouli (IC₅₀ 47.40 ppm) were very strong; sandalwood (IC₅₀ 111.46 ppm) and bergamot (IC₅₀ 129.02 ppm) were moderate; and sunflower seed (IC₅₀ 154.11 ppm) was weak. All medicated oil formulations also showed antioxidant potential: F2 (IC₅₀ 59.09 ppm) exhibited the strongest activity, followed by F1 (IC₅₀ 78.36 ppm) which was also strong; F3 (IC₅₀ 131.44 ppm) was moderate; and F4 (IC₅₀ 166.70 ppm) and F5 (IC₅₀ 175.07 ppm) were weak. Physicochemical evaluation of the medicated oil formulations showed good and non-irritating characteristics, although the pH was not yet optimal and some essential oils did not fully meet standards. It is concluded that bergamot, nutmeg, sandalwood, patchouli, and sunflower seed essential oils along with all medicated oil formulations possess antioxidant potential, but further characterization and evaluation indicate the need for further optimization of the formulations for quality standard compliance and safe product development. Keywords: medicated oil, antioxidant, essential oil, ABTS.
