Provinsi Aceh memiliki potensi batubara yang besar, sekitar 1,5 miliar metrik ton, dengan 500 juta metrik ton
sudah terukur. Potensi ini menjadikan sektor pertambangan batubara sebagai salah satu penggerak utama ekonomi daerah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kontribusi sektor ini terhadap Produk Domestik Regional Bruto (PDRB) Provinsi Aceh menggunakan data tahun 2018-2023. Metode analisis yang digunakan adalah Vector Error Correction Model (VECM), dengan pengujian Impulse Response Function (IRF) dan Variance
Decomposition (VD) untuk mengevaluasi hubungan jangka pendek dan jangka panjang antar variabel. Hasil
penelitian menunjukkan bahwa shock dari sektor pertambangan batubara memberikan dampak negatif terhadap PDRB pada periode awal, berdasarkan hasil IRF. Namun dalam jangka panjang, dampak tersebut cenderung stabil dan mereda. Sementara itu, hasil VD menunjukkan bahwa kontribusi sektor pertambangan batubara terhadap variasi PDRB meningkat secara bertahap, hingga mencapai 57,51% pada periode ke-20, sedangkan kontribusi PDRB terhadap sektor pertambangan batubara tercatat sebesar 25,79% pada periode yang sama. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa hubungan kedua sektor bersifat dua arah dan semakin kuat seiring waktu. Dengan demikian, sektor pertambangan batubara memiliki potensi signifikan dalam memengaruhi pertumbuhan ekonomi Aceh, namun kontribusinya masih belum optimal pada jangka pendek. Diperlukan strategi pembangunan ekonomi yang mampu mengintegrasikan sektor pertambangan batubara secara lebih sistematis dan berkelanjutan ke dalam struktur ekonomi daerah.

Aceh Province has a large coal potential, around 1.5 billion metric tons, with 500 million metric tons already measured. This potential makes the coal mining sector one of the main drivers of the regional economy. This study aims to analyze the contribution of this sector to the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GDP) of Aceh Province using data from 2018-2023. The analysis method used was the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM), with Impulse Response Function (IRF) and Variance Decomposition (VD) tests to evaluate the short-term and long-term relationships between variables. The results of the study show that the shock from the coal mining sector had a negative impact on GDP in the initial period, based on the results of the IRF. But in the long term, the impact tends to be stable and subside. Meanwhile, the results of the VD show that the contribution of the coal mining sector to the variation of GDP increased gradually, reaching 57.51% in the 20th period, while the contribution of GDP to the coal mining sector was recorded at 25.79% in the same period. This shows that the relationship between the two sectors is two-way and is getting stronger over time. Thus, the coal mining sector has significant potential to influence Aceh's economic growth, but its contribution is still not optimal in the short term. An economic development strategy is needed that is able to integrate the coal mining sector more systematically and sustainably into the regional economic structure.
