Latar Belakang: Asma adalah kondisi heterogen yang ditandai dengan gejala pernapasan dan keterbatasan aliran udara. Peningkatan keparahan asma berhubungan dengan penurunan kualitas hidup pasien, peningkatan mortalitas, dan peningkatan rawatan inap. Jumlah eosinophil darah berhubungan dengan keparahan dan fenotipe asma
Tujuan: Untuk mengetahui mengetahui korelasi jumlah eosinofil darah tepi terhadap keparahan asma pada pasien asma stabil.
Metode: Penelitian analitik obervasional dengan desain potong lintang. Sampel penelitian diambil berdasarkan teknik consecutive sampling pada pasien asma stabil berobat jalan di Poliklinik Paru di RSUD dr. Zainoel Abidin Banda Aceh pada Juli 2024 hingga Desember 2024.
Hasil: Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa jumlah eosinofil darah tepi berhubungan dengan keparahan asma berdasarkan GINA 2024 (r= -0,412; p=0,024), namun tidak berhubungan dengan keparahan asma berdasarkan ketentuan PDPI (r= 0,322; p=0,082).
Diskusi: Pada penelitian ini diperoleh bahwa semakin meningkatnya eosinofil maka menunjukkan asma yang lebih ringan dan rendahnya kadar eosinofil pada pasien dengan derajat asma yang lebih berat, hal ini dapat dikarenakan pada GINA 2024 terapi yang diberikan sesuai dengan keparahan asma. Pada pasien dengan asma berat terapi yang diberikan berupa ICS/LABA dengan dosis yang lebih tinggi. Terdapat bukti efek dosis-respons ICS pada pengurangan eosinofil darah.

Background: Asthma is a heterogeneous condition characterized by respiratory symptoms and airflow limitation. Increasing asthma severity is associated with reduced patient quality of life, increased mortality, and increased hospitalizations. The peripheral blood eosinophils count is related to the severity and phenotype of asthma Objective: To find out the correlation between the peripheral blood eosinophils count and the severity of asthma in stable asthma patients. Method: Observational analytical research with a cross-sectional design. Research samples were taken based on techniques consecutive sampling in stable asthma patients seeking outpatient treatment at the Pulmonary Polyclinic at RSUD dr. Zainoel Abidin Banda Aceh from July 2024 to December 2024. Results: This study shows that the number of peripheral blood eosinophils is associated with asthma severity based on GINA 2024 (r= -0,412; p=0.024), but is not related to asthma severity based on PDPI provisions (r= 0,322; p=0,082). Discussion: In this study, it was found that increasing eosinophils indicated milder asthma and lower eosinophil levels in patients with more severe degrees of asthma. This could be because in GINA 2024 the therapy given was in accordance with the severity of the asthma. In patients with severe asthma, therapy is given in the form of inhaled corticosteroid (ICS)/long acting beta agonist (LABA) at higher doses. There is evidence of a dose-response effect of ICS on reducing blood eosinophils. Keywords: Asthma, Eosinophil Count, Asthma Severity
