 <note>Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) is one of the teaching methods which aims at using language as a communication tool for its users. Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) is used to encourage students’ ability in listening skill. The objective of this study is to know the effectiveness of CTL in improving students listening skill. The discussion is focused on particular componentsin contextual teaching and learning namely: constructivism, inquiry, questioning, learning community, modeling, reflection and authentic assessment. The method of this study is library research. The data collected in the form of statements and/or theories suggested by the specialists particularly those theories related to the contextual teaching and learning in listening skill. Based on the research findings and experts’ statements, it is found that contextual teaching and learning is effective to enhance students’ listening skill. This study is expected to be useful for other English teachers.</note>
