ABSTRACT The purpose of this research is to examine the effect of book tax differences (BTD), total asset turn over (TATO), operating profit margin (OPM), and return on equity (ROE) toward earning changes of manufacturing company which is registered in Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2009-2013. The research type used in this study is testing hypothesis, by using purposive sampling method and in which there are 100 target of sampling which become the investigated object. The data used in this study is secondary data obtained from the anually financial statements for the fiscal year ended December 31, published by the reference center of the capital markets contained in the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The multiple regression analysis model is used to test the hypothesis. The results of this study indicate that (1) book tax differences has no impact on the earning changes. (2) total asset turn has no impact on earning changes. (3) operating profit margin has negative impact on earning changes and (4) Return on equity has positive impact on earning changes. Keywords: Earning Changes, BTD, TATO, OPM, ROE ABSTRAK Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menguji pengaruh book tax differences (BTD) , total asset turn over (TATO), operating profit margin (OPM) dan return on equity (ROE) terhadap perubahan laba pada perusahaan manufaktur yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia (BEI) tahun 2009-2013. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam studi ini adalah pengujian hipotesis, dengan menggunakan metode purposive sampling dan terdapat 100 sampel data yang menjadi objek untuk diteliti. Jenis data yang digunakan adalah data sekunder yang diperoleh dari laporan keuangan tahunan berakhir per 31 Desember yang dipublikasikan oleh pusat referensi pasar modal yang terdapat di Bursa Efek Indonesia. Analisis yang digunakan adalah regresi linear berganda untuk menguji hipotesis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) Book tax differences tidak memiliki pengaruh terhadap perubahan laba. (2) Total asset turn over tidak berpengaruh terhadap perubahan laba. (3) Operating profit margin berpengaruh negatif terhadap perubahan laba. dan (4) Return on equity berpengaruh positif terhadap perubahan laba.
