Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana upaya ibu dalam pencegahan primer penyakit ISPA berupa imunisasi lengkap, pemenuhan nutrisi, menciptakan lingkungan yang sehat, dan menjaga kebersihan diri pada balita di Desa Ceurih Wilayah kerja Puskesmas Ulee Kareng Banda Aceh tahun 2015. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif dengan jumlah populasi 159 orang ibu, sampel sebanyak 67 orang dan menggunakan teknik random sampling. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada tanggal 23 Mei sampai 2 Juni 2015 dengan menggunakan 4 buah kuesioner dengan cara ukur berbeda, yaitu menggunakan Kartu Menuju Sehat, pengukuran fisik, lembar observasi, dan chek list. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis univariat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa upaya ibu dalam pencegahan primer penyakit ISPA berada pada kategori kurang sekitar 63 orang (94,0%), meliputi empat variabel yaitu kelengkapan imunisasi berada pada kategori tidak lengkap sebanyak 35 orang (52,2%), pemenuhan nutrisi berada pada kategori baik sebanyak 39 orang (58,2%), lingkungan sehat berada pada kategori rumah tidak sehat sebanyak 54 orang (80,6%), kebersihan diri balita berada pada kategori kurang sebanyak 38 orang (56,7%). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tersebut, peneliti menyarankan hendaknya Puskesmas menindaklanjuti upaya pencegahan yang belum maksimal terhadap balita yang mengalami ISPA di Desa Ceurih Ulee Kareng dengan mengupayakan peningkatan perilaku sehat melalui metode pembelajaran yang beragam. This study aims to determine how maternal efforts in primary prevention of ARI in the form of complete immunization, the fulfillment of nutrition, creating a healthier environment, and maintaining personal hygiene in children under five years old in Ceurih with work area is in Public Health Center (Pukesmas) in Ulee Kareng Banda Aceh 2015. The method used is descriptive with a population of 159 mothers, a sample of 67 people and uses random sampling techniques. This research was conducted from May 23 to June 2, 2015 by using 4 questionnaires with different measurement; using health care card, physical measurements, observation sheets, and a check list. Analysis of the data used is the univariate analysis. The results showed that mother’s efforts in primary prevention on acute respiratory infections are in the category less than 63 people (94.0%), including four variables: the completeness of immunization which is in the category of 35 people (52.2%), the fulfillment of nutrition which is in category of 39 people (58.2%), healthy environment which is in the unhealthy house category of 54 people (80.6%), toddlers’ personal hygiene which is in less category of 38 people (56.7%).
