Penelitian kualitatif deskriptif ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis jenis-jenis kesalahan tata bahasa simple past tense yang dilakukan siswa ketika menulis teks recount. Data dalam penelitian ini diperoleh dari 20 siswa kelas dua SMAN 01 Peukan Bada, Aceh Besar. Data penelitian ini dikumpulkan menggunakan lembar kerja siswa yang berisi teks recount yang telah mereka kerjakan. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam satu kali pertemuan. Setelah diberi dua jam pelajaran untuk menyelesaikan tulisan mereka, hasil teks kemudian dianalisis menggunakan teknik analisis data oleh Gass dan Selinker (2008). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada 161 kesalahan yang ditemukan dalam teks recount yang dihasilkan siswa. Kesalahan tertinggi yang dilakukan siswa adalah misinformation (42,8%), omission (39,7%), addition (11,8%), dan yang terendah adalah misordering (5,5%). Peneliti menemukan bahwa misinformation merupakan kesalahan tertinggi dalam penelitian ini, dan kesalahan yang paling umum adalah penggunaan to be was dan were, serta regular dan irregular verb. Sedangkan pada tipe misordering, kesalahan terendah terjadi pada reverse ordering frasa kata benda.

This descriptive qualitative research aimed to find out and analyze the types of simple past tense grammatical errors that were made by students when they wrote a recount text. The data in this study were obtained from 20 second-grade students of SMAN 01 Peukan Bada, Aceh Besar. The data of this study were collected using student worksheets that contained the recount texts they had worked on. This study was conducted in one meeting. After being given two hours of lessons to complete their writing, the text results were then analyzed using the technique of data analysis by Gass and Selinker (2008). The results of the study showed that there were 161 errors found in the recount texts produced by students. The highest errors made by students were misinformation (42,8%), omission (39,7%), addition (11,8%), and the lowest was misordering (5,5%). The researcher found that misinformation was the highest error in this research, and the most common errors were in use of to be was and were, as well as regular and irregular verbs. While in misordering type, the lowest error occurred in the reverse ordering of the noun phrases. Keywords: Recount text, simple present tense, types of error analysis.
