This descriptive qualitative research aims to find out students’ perceptions on the use of animation movies in learning English vocabulary. The data in this study were obtained from 23 students at third grade of SMP N 1 Kuta Baro. The data were collected through questionnaires and interviews which contain three aspects of perception namely cognitive, affective and conative. Questionnaires were distributed to 23 students at third grade and interviews were conducted with 6 students. The results of this study showed that students agree that they have a better understanding of English vocabulary learning through animation movie. Students perceived that the use of animation movie as a vocabulary learning medium is more effective than just learning through books. However, not all students consider the use of animation movie can increase their English vocabulary. These include their lack of interest in remembering the English vocabulary they have learned, as well as the fact that they do not feel the need to use English vocabulary in their environment. From these results, it can be concluded that students who feel more understanding of learning English vocabulary through animation movie media do not always have an impact on increasing their own English vocabulary.
