Penyu memiliki peran penting dalam menjaga keseimbangan ekosistem laut, namun populasinya terus menurun. Adanya kawasan konservasi penyu Aroen Meubanja di Kabupaten Aceh Jaya merupakan langkah signifikan menuju pelestarian penyu dan ekosistem pesisir di wilayah tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perkembangan dan status konservasi penyu Aroen Meubanja di Kabupaten Aceh Jaya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode cluster dan wawancara. Terdapat 29 orang responden yang diambil dari berbagai kelompok yang dipilih menggunakan teknik cluster random sampling. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan ada 3 faktor keberhasilan konservasi penyu yaitu kerjasama pemerintah yang mencapai 38,9% dari keseluruhan faktor keberhasilan konservasi, edukasi dan partisipasi masyarakat akan pentingnya konservasi dengan presentase sekitar 31,91% dan kerjasama pemerintah daerah dengan presentase sekitar 29,80%. Namun, ada 3 hambatan terbesar dalam konservasi penyu yaitu pencurian telur penyu dengan persentase mencapai 46,12%, kurangnya dana dengan presentase mencapai 32,30% dan kurangnya dukungan pemerintah dengan persentase mencapai 21,55%.

Sea turtles play an important role in maintaining the balance of marine ecosystems, but their population continues to decline. The existence of the Aroen Meubanja turtle conservation area in Aceh Jaya District is a significant step towards conserving turtles and coastal ecosystems in the region.. This research aims to determine the development and conservation status of the Aroen Meubanja turtle in Aceh Jaya Regency. This study uses cluster and interview methods. There were 29 respondents taken from various groups selected using the cluster random sampling technique. The results of this study show that there are 3 success factors for sea turtle conservation, namely government cooperation which reaches 46.2% of the overall success factors of conservation, education and community participation in the importance of conservation with a percentage of around 50% and local government cooperation with a percentage of around 60%. However, there are 3 biggest obstacles in sea turtle conservation: theft of sea turtle eggs with a percentage of 53.8%, lack of funding with a percentage of 100% and lack of government support with a percentage of 70%.
