Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji proses penciptaan karya seni makrame di SC Handmade Gallery, yang berlokasi di Kota Banda Aceh. Makrame merupakan seni kerajinan tangan yang melibatkan simpul-menyimpul benang atau tali untuk menghasilkan berbagai produk dekoratif dan fungsional. SC Handmade Gallery merupakan salah satu usaha kreatif yang ada di Kota Banda Aceh. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Data dikumpulkan melalui proses observasi langsung, wawancara mendalam dengan pemilik, dan pengrajin di SC Handmade Gallery, serta dokumentasi proses penciptaan karya seni makrame. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa proses penciptaan makrame di SC Handmade Gallery terdiri dari beberapa tahapan: pemilihan bahan, pengolahan bahan, desain produk, pembentukan karya, dan penyelesaian akhir. Setiap tahapan memiliki peran penting dalam memastikan kualitas tinggi dari karya yang dihasilkan. Kreativitas, keterampilan teknis, dan pemahaman material menjadi faktor kunci dalam menghasilkan karya makrame yang unik dan bernilai estetika. Tahapan proses penciptaan meliputi eksplorasi ide melalui platform seperti Instagram dan Youtube, perancangan sketsa dasar dengan penentuan ukuran, warna, dan bentuk, serta perwujudan sketsa menjadi produk jadi. Simpul yang digunakan dalam pembuatan makrame jenis keranjang antara lain simpul ikat biasa, simpul kepala, simpul double half hitch knot, dan simpul persegi. Pada pembuatan makrame wall hanging, jenis simpul yang digunakan relatif sederhana, dengan pengulangan simpul yang sama pada struktur yang berbeda.

This research aims to examine the process of creating macramé artworks at SC Handmade Gallery, located in Banda Aceh. Macramé is a craft technique involving the knotting of threads or cords to produce various decorative and functional products. SC Handmade Gallery is one of the prominent creative enterprises in Banda Aceh, known for its wide range of macramé products that are popular among both local residents and tourists. The research employed a qualitative methodology with a case study approach. Data were collected through direct observation, in-depth interviews with the owner and artisans at SC Handmade Gallery, and documentation of the macramé creation process. The findings reveal that the creation process of macramé artworks at SC Handmade Gallery involves several stages, including design planning, material selection, knotting process, and final finishing. Each stage plays a crucial role in producing high-quality macramé artworks. The study found that creativity, technical skills, and a deep understanding of materials are key factors in creating unique and aesthetically valuable macramé artworks. Additionally, the artisans at SC Handmade Gallery incorporate local cultural elements into their designs, which adds artistic value and uniqueness to their products. This research is expected to contribute to the development of the creative industry in Banda Aceh and serve as a reference for other macrame craft entrepreneurs in improving the quality and competitiveness of their products. Furthermore, this study highlights the importance of preserving traditional arts and empowering the local economy through creative enterprises.
