Kawasan Ekosistem Leuser adalah kawasan hutan hujan tropis yang memiliki luas 2,4 juta hektar. Kawasan ini secara administratif meliputi wilayah Provinsi Aceh dan Sumatra Utara. Keanekaragaman hayati yang terdapat di Kawasan Ekosistem Leuser sangat tinggi. Stasiun Penelitian Soraya memiliki areal sekitar 500 hektar yang merupakan areal bekas konsesi hak pengusahaan hutan (HPH) PT. Hargas Industri Indonesia yang kemudian ditetapkan sebagai kawasan konservasi. Stasiun Penelitian Soraya memiliki keanekaragaman satwa liar yang begitu beragam seperti harimau, orangutan, kedih, kuau raja, burung, ular, kupu-kupu, dan lain-lain. Metode pengumpulan data di lakukan dengan tiga cara diantaranya pengamatan atau observasi, pemasangan kamera jebakan dan Transek Reconnaissance (Recce walk). Ditemukan dua jenis Familia Felidae yaitu, Harimau sumatera (Panthera tigris sumatrae) satu ekor dan Kucing emas (Catopuma teminckii) tiga ekor dengan nilai frekuensi 1,33 % maka diperoleh indeks nilai penting 200% dengan demikian dapat diketahui bahwa kucing emas memiliki peran lebih penting di Kawasan Stasiun Penelitian Soraya. Sedangkan nilai indeks similaritas 233.2% yang menunjukkan bahwa antar lokasi grid memiliki kesamaan komposisi jenis. hasil perhitungan nilai keanekaragaman jenis Familia Felidae di Stasiun Penelitian Soraya menunjukkan bahwa nilai keanekaragamannya rendah dengan perolehan total berjumlah 0.563 dengan perolehan nilai tersebut maka dapat diketahui nilai keanekaragaman Familia Felidae di Stasiun Penelitian Soraya rendah dikarenakan kurang dari 1. dan nilai indeks kemerataan jenis sebesar 0.2815 menunjukkan bahwa dilokasi pemasangan kamera jebakan tersebut tidak ada jenis-jenis yang mendominan pada Familia Felidae di Stasiun Penelitian Soraya. Perolehan nilai untuk kamera jebakan mulai dari nilai tingkat penjumpaan 150.593, nilai indeks kelimpahan relative (RAI) kamera jebakan adalah 7.87402 dan nilai independent even sebesar 1.04987. Untuk status konservasi sendiri kedua jenis Familia Felidae yang ditemukan di Stasiun Penelitian Soraya sudah terancam keberadaannya dan dilindungan oleh pemerintah.

The Leuser Ecosystem Area is a tropical rainforest area that has an area of 2.4 million hectares. This area administratively covers the provinces of Aceh and North Sumatra. The biodiversity found in the Leuser Ecosystem Area is very high. Soraya Research Station has an area of around 500 hectares which is a former concession area of forest concession rights (HPH) of PT. Hargas Industri Indonesia which was later designated as a conservation area. Soraya Research Station has a very diverse diversity of wildlife such as tigers, orangutans, kedih, peacocks, birds, snakes, butterflies, and others. Data collection methods are carried out in three ways, including observation, installation of camera traps and Reconnaissance Transects (Recce walk). Two types of Felidae Family were found, namely, Sumatran Tiger (Panthera tigris sumatrae) one tail and Golden Cat (Catopuma teminckii) three tails with a frequency value of 1.33%, then the importance value index of 200% was obtained, thus it can be seen that the golden cat has a more important role in the Soraya Research Station Area. While the similarity index value of 233.2% indicates that between grid locations have similar species composition. the results of the calculation of the diversity value of the Felidae Family at the Soraya Research Station show that the diversity value is low with a total acquisition of 0.563 with the acquisition of this value, it can be seen that the diversity value of the Felidae Family at the Soraya Research Station is low because it is less than 1. and the species evenness index value of 0.2815 indicates that at the location where the camera trap was installed there were no dominant species in the Felidae Family at the Soraya Research Station. The value obtained for camera traps starts from the encounter rate value of 150,593, the relative abundance index (RAI) value of camera traps is 7.87402 and the independent event value is 1.04987. For the conservation status itself, the two types of Felidae Familia found at the Soraya Research Station are already threatened and protected by the government.
