Hutan yang memiliki tingkat kerapatan yang tinggi menandakan vegetasi yang masih bagus dan kelestarian yang masih terjaga, untuk mengetahui seberapa besar tingkat kerapatan vegetasi pada suatu wilayah sebuah riset perlu dilakukan. Pada saat ini penggunaan sistem penginderaan jauh dapat menjadi salah satu cara untuk mengetahui seberapa besar tingkat kerapatan vegetasi pada suatu wilayah. Penelitian ini dilakukan bertujuan untuk menganalisis sebaran luas kerapatan vegetasi hutan yang ada di Kecamatan Kluet Selatan pada tahun 2022, dan memetakan tingkat kerapatan vegetasi hutan di Kecamatan Kluet Selatan pada tahun 2022.
Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Soil Adjusted Vegetation Index (SAVI) dengan memanfaatkan sistem penginderaan jauh yang berupa citra landsat 9 OLI tahun perekaman 2022. Kelas kerapatan vegetasi dibagi menjadi 5 kelas yaitu non vegetasi, sangat rendah, rendah, sedang, dan tinggi.
Hasil penelitian memberikan rentang nilai indeks SAVI terendah -0,470329 dan untuk rentang nilai tertingginya 0,718762. Hasil klasifikasi kelas kerapatan vegetasi nilai terendah terdapat pada kelas kerapatan sangat rendah seluas 8,43 Ha dengan rentang nilai 0,0187 - 0,1041, dan untuk nilai tertingginya terdapat pada kelas kerapatan tinggi seluas 14.145,93 Ha dengan rentang nilai 0,5214 - 0,718762. Uji akurasi kelas kerapatan vegetasi menggunakan error matrix (matrik kesalahan) mendapat tingkat keakurasian sebesar 88.00%.

Forests that have a high density level indicate that the vegetation is still good and the sustainability is still maintained, to find out how high the vegetation density level is in an area, research needs to be done. Currently, the use of remote sensing systems can be one way to find out how high the vegetation density level is in an area. This study was conducted with the aim of analyzing the distribution of forest vegetation density in Kluet Selatan District in 2022, and mapping the level of forest vegetation density in Kluet Selatan District in 2022. This study uses the Soil Adjusted Vegetation Index (SAVI) method by utilizing a remote sensing system in the form of Landsat 9 OLI imagery from the 2022 recording year. The vegetation density class is divided into 5 classes, namely non-vegetation, very low, low, medium, and high. The results of the study provide the lowest SAVI index value range of -0.470329 and the highest value range is 0.718762. The results of the vegetation density class classification showed that the lowest value was in the very low density class covering an area of 8.43 Ha with a value range of 0.0187 - 0.1041, and the highest value was in the high density class covering an area of 14,145.93 Ha with a value range of 0.5214 - 0.718762. The accuracy test of the vegetation density class using the error matrix obtained an accuracy level of 88.00%.
