Title : The Use of Four-Square Writing Method in Improving Students’ Writing Ability
(An Experimental Research to the Third Grade Students of SMAN 6 Banda Aceh Academic Year 2014/2015)
The phenomenon nowadays indicated that most of students get difficulties in writing skill, especially in organizing and developing idea. Teachers teach them by using same techniques in every teaching learning process. Therefore, the teachers need to use various techniques inteaching learning process. This study investigated whether Four-Square Writing Method as a technique was used in teaching writing improves students’ writing ability or not. This study conducted at the third grade students of SMAN 6 academic year 2014/2015.The research design used in this study was quantitative research with an experimental approach. The result proved that the use of Four-Square Writing Method improve students’ writing ability. It means that the alternative hypothesis was accepted and the null hypothesis was rejected. Therefore, the writer believes that this research will be useful for other English teachers asone of the alternative techniques in teaching writing in their classroom. As the conclusion, the writer concluded that in this research, applying FSWM increased students’ creativity in writing an essay.
