ABSTRAK Nama : Yuli Safrizal Program Studi : Pendidikan Dokter Gigi Fakultas : Kedokteran Gigi Judul : Profil Sel dan Kadar Kolesterol Darah Tikus Putih (Rattus norvegicus)Setelah Diinfeksi S.mutans Streptococcus mutans (S. mutans) merupakan agen utama penyebab karies gigi yang dapat menimbulkan kondisi bakteremia. Kondisi tersebut dapat terjadi karena trauma dalam rongga mulut dan infeksi saluran akar gigi yang dapat mengakibatkan pecahnya pembuluh darah. Tujuan peneletian ini untuk melihat perubahan profil sel darah dan kadar kolesterol setelah diifeksi S. mutans. Penelitian ini bersifat eksperimental laboratoris dengan rancangan post test only control group, menggunakan 3 tikus pada kelompok kontrol dan 3 tikus pada kelompok perlakuan. Kelompok kontrol diinjeksi NaCl 0,9% dan kelompok perlakuan diinjeksi S. mutans 109 CFU/ml. Pada hari ke-7 dan ke-14 setelah injeksi dilakukan pengambilan darah dan pembuatan preparat ulas untuk pengamatan profil sel darah serta pengamatan kadar kolesterol dengan menggunakan alat digital pengukur kolesterol (EasyTouch GCU). Hasil pengamatan profil sel darah pada hari ke-7 dan ke-14 menunjukan tidak terjadi perubahan pada morfologi dari sel darah (eritrosit, leukosit, trombosit), tetapi terdapat peningkatan jumlah leukosit total. Hasil pengamatan pada kadar kolesterol pada hari ke-7 dan ke-14 menunjukkan terdapat peningkatan kadar kolesterol darah pada kelompok perlakuan. Hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa S. mutans dapat menyebabkan peningkatkan kadar kolesterol dan peningkatkan neutrofil dan monosit. The purpose of this research were knowing blood cell profile and cholesterol level after infected S. mutans. This research was a laboratory experimental research by using post test only control group design, used 3 rats of control group and 3 rats of treatment group. The control group were injected with NaCl 0,9% and the treatment group were injected with S. mutans for 109 CFU/ml. The next day on 7th and 14th after infection were took of blood and make blood films for observed of profile blood cell and observed level of cholesterol with digital cholesterol meter. The result of profile blood cell on 7th and 14th days showed that weren’t changed from morphology of blood cell (erythrocyte, leukocyte, and platelet), but there was a change in the total leukocyte. The result of cholesterol level on 7th and 14th showed the increased level of cholesterol from treatment group.
