Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana penerapan unsur-unsur retorika yang
terdiri dari ethos, pathos, logos dan lima kanon retorika yang dilakukan oleh komika pada
penampilan open mic di komunitas stand up comedy Banda Aceh, serta hambatan dalam
penerapan retorika. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif
dengan menggunakan konsep retorika Aristoteles yang terdiri dari ethos, pathos dan logos.
Data-data dalam Penelitian ini didapat dari hasil wawancara semi struktural secara
langsung dan observasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa para komika stand up
comedy Banda Aceh telah menerapkan unsur-unsur retorika. Dari hasil penelitian pada
unsur ethos para komika menerapkan apa yang yang disampaikan Aristoteles bahwa
kreadibilitas dilihat dari 3 aspek yaitu, intelegensi, karakter dan niat baik melalui
penampilan stand up comedy. Pada Unsur pathos ditampilkan dari emosi yang mucul dari
penonton berupa gelak tawa terhadap penampilan stand up comedy para komika di stand
up comedy Banda Aceh. Unsur pathos tersebut juga didukung oleh unsur logos, dimana
logos pada stand up comedy merupakan argumen yang logis, masuk akal dan fakta fakta
yang disampaikan oleh komika dengan menggunakan analogi sederhana. Adapun
hambatan yang dirasakan oleh para komika stand up comedy Banda Aceh dalam
menerapkan lima kanon retorika yaitu pada tahap penemuan, penyusunan, dan gaya yang
akan digunakan pada penampilan open mic. peneliti berharap penlitian ini menjadi inspirasi
bagi para peneliti selanjutnya untuk meneliti aspek dan sudut pandang lain dari retorika
dan teknik retorika.

This study aims to find out how the application of rhetorical elements, ethos, pathos, logos and five canons of rhetoric carried out by comics in open mic performances in the Banda Aceh stand-up comedy community as well as obstacles in the application of rhetoric. This study uses a descriptive qualitative research method using the concept of Aristotle's rhetoric consisting of ethos, pathos and logos. The data in this study were obtained from the results of direct semi-structural interviews and observations. The results of this study show that Banda Aceh stand-up comedy comics have applied elements of rhetoric. From the results of the research on the ethos element, the comics apply what Aristotle said that credibility is seen from 3 aspects, namely, intelligence, character and goodwill through stand-up comedy performances. In the Pathos element, it is shown from the emotions that arise from the audience in the form of laughter at the stand-up comedy performance of the comics in Banda Aceh stand up comedy. The pathos element is also supported by the element of logos, where logos in stand-up comedy are logical, reasonable arguments and facts and facts and events conveyed by comics using simple analogies. The obstacles felt by Banda Aceh stand-up comedy comics in applying the five canons of rhetoric are at the stage of discovery, compilation, and style that will be used in open mic performances.
