This study aims at examining whether the use of clustering technique increases students’ writing ability in writing descriptive text. Quantitative approach with experimental study of  pretest-postest control group design was undertaken to overcome the problems faced by students in learning writing skill. The instrument used to collect the data in this study by means of the test in the form of written test. The results of the test analyzed by using writing criteria proposed by Brown (2004). In addition, some statisctical formula were also used to analyze the data. From the results of the study revealed there is a significant improvement on students’ writing ability after clustering technique implemented. Thus, clustering can be used by the English teacher as one of alternative techniques in teaching English particularly teaching writing in EFL class. &#13;
