Mahmud Ibrahim merupakan sosok tokoh Pendidikan asal Aceh Tengah yang dikenal memiliki
peran penting dalam bidang Pendidikan Islam di Tanah Gayo yang sudah banyak membantu
pembangunan dan perkembangan Pendidikan Islam di tanah Gayo sehingga generasi muda Gayo
saat ini tidak terlalu terbebani untuk melanjutkan pendidikan khususnya Pendidikan Islam hingga
ke Perguruan Tinggi. penelitian ini mengunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dan metode
sejarah. Berdasarkan hasil Penelitian ini di ketahui bahwa (1) Mahmud Ibrahim berasal dari
keluarga yang berlatar belakang Agamis dan sederhana namun penuh dengan semangat dan
tekad untuk mendapatkan pendidikan sehingga Mahmud Ibrahim tumbuh menjadi tokoh yang
berdedikasi pada pembangunan pendidikan dan pengembangan masyarakat, terutama di Aceh
Tengah. Mahmud Ibrahim tidak hanya memberikan pengetahuan saja tapi juga dengan ini
keberanian, ketekunan, dan keikhlasan dalam berjuang untuk kebaikan bersama (2) Kontribusi
Mahmud Ibrahim dalam pendidikan Islam di tanah Gayo pada tahun 1986 - 2017 adalah beliau
merupakan salah satu pendiri yayasan gajah putih yang kemudian berubah menjadi perguruan
tinggi gajah putih, salah satu tokoh pendiri yayasan Quba, bebesen. Dan menjadi pendiri yayasan
dan dayah Maqaman Mahmudah. serta pemikiran pemikiran yang beliau tuangkan dalam
beberapa karya beliau salah satunya seperti Syariat dan Adat Istiadat yang berisi tentang
pentingnya integrasi antara Syari'at Islam dan Adat serta penyebab terpisahnya keduanya.

Mahmud Ibrahim is a figure of Education from Central Aceh who is known to have an important role in the field of Islamic Education in Tanah Gayo who has helped a lot in the development and development of Islamic Education in Tanah Gayo so that the young generation of Gayo today is not too burdened to continue their education, especially Islamic Education to College. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach and historical methods. Based on the results. This study is known that (1) Mahmud Ibrahim comes from a family with a religious and simple background but is full of enthusiasm and determination to get an education so that Mahmud Ibrahim grows into a figure who is dedicated to the development of education and community development, especially in Central Aceh. Mahmud Ibrahim not only provides knowledge but also with this courage, perseverance, and sincerity in fighting for the common good (2) Mahmud Ibrahim's contribution to Islamic education in Tanah Gayo in 1986 - 2017 is that he is one of the founders of the white elephant foundation which later changed to the white elephant college, one of the founders of the Quba foundation, bebesen. And became the founder of the Maqaman Mahmudah foundation and dayah. and the thoughts that he poured into several of his works, one of which is Sharia and Customs and Traditions, which contains the importance of integration between Islamic Sharia and Customs and the causes of the separation of the two.
