Title : The Use of Video to Teach Speaking Ability in Accuracy (An
Experimental Research at MAN Darussalam Aceh Besar)
This study was conducted because video can help students understand the language
more easily (Hu 2006). Besides, itfocused on the use of video in teaching students’
speaking in accuracy at second grade of MAN Darussalam Aceh Besar which
consists of 20 students. In addition, the writer concerns with the use of
communicative approach in teaching speaking skill. In this study, the writer used the
experimental research in order to test the hypothesis. The instrument used to collect
data in this study was by means of the test in the form of oral test. The result of the
test was analyzed by using speaking criteria proposed by Brown (2004). From the
results of the study, it was found that the mean of pre test and post test were
different. The, t-test was 6.88 and t-table was 2.09. The significant level used in this
research was 0.05. Meanwhile, the value of t-test was higher than t-table (6.88>2.09).
Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. It revealed there is a significant improvement
on students’speaking ability in accuracy after the use of video as media
implemented. Thus, video can be one of the alternative media used by the teacher in
teaching English particularly teaching speaking in an EFL class.
