Having a good listening skill is important in learning second or foreign language. Students in junior high school are asked to be able to catch the meaning of some simple short dialogues, which means that they are asked to have a good listening ability. This study aimed to find out whether or not using videos assist students’ listening comprehension in short dialogues. This study discussed the students’ listening comprehension in invitation and greeting card (congratulating) topics. Subject of this study was all students of class VIII-2 of SMPN 6 Banda Aceh, which was chosen by using purposive sampling. Method used in this study was quantitative method with pre-experimental design. The result of this study showed that videos assisted the students’ listening comprehension that their post-test scores were increased from their pre-test scores. However, it is suggested for the teachers who want to use videos as teaching media to consider the content of videos first. It is concluded that videos can be a help to assist students’ listening comprehension in short dialogues.
