Ikan Depik (Rasbora tawarensis) dan Ikan Kawan (Poropuntius tawarensis) adalah dua spesies endemik yang terancam punah. Memahami persepsi masyarakat sangat penting karena persepsi positif dapat mendorong partisipasi dalam tindakan konservasi. Sebaliknya, persepsi negatif atau apatis akan menjadi tantangan besar bagi upaya konservasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui persepsi masyarakat dalam konservasi ikan endemik di Danau Laut Tawar jika ditinjau berdasarkan past experience (pengetahuan), culture and background (sikap) dan jika ditinjau berdasarkan physical state (tindakan). Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif, dengan jenis penelitian survey. Populasi dalam penelitian ini yaitu masyarakat yang berada di Desa Bewang dan Toweren, Kabupaten Aceh Tengah melalui teknik purposive sampling berdasarkan kriteria yang telah ditentukan, jumlah sampel yang terambil yaitu 90 responden. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan kuesioner yang terdiri dari 30 butir pernyataan persepsi yang terdiri dari tiga indikator yaitu past experience (pengetahuan), culture and background (sikap) dan physical state (tindakan) dengan lima alternatif pilihan jawaban. Data hasil kuesioner dianalisis secara kuantitatif lalu disajikan dalam bentuk deskriptif berupa diagram. Hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan menunjukkan persentase tertinggi berdasarkan past experience (pengetahuan) yaitu pada pilihan jawaban tahu (29%) dalam konservasi ikan endemik di Danau Laut Tawar, Kabupaten Aceh Tengah, sedangkan persentase tertinggi berdasarkan culture and background (sikap) yaitu pada pilihan jawaban tidak setuju (28%) dalam konservasi ikan endemik di Danau Laut Tawar, dan persentase tertinggi berdasarkan physical state (tindakan) yaitu pada pilihan jawaban tidak sering sebesar (30%) dalam konservasi ikan endemik di Danau Laut Tawar.

Depik Fish (Rasbora Tawarensis) and Kawan Fish (Poropuntius Tawarensis) are two endemic species that are threatened with extinction. Understanding community perceptions is very important because positive perceptions can encourage participation in conservation actions. On the other hand, negative perceptions or apathy will be a big challenge for conservation efforts. This research aims to determine community perceptions regarding endemic fish conservation in Lake Laut Tawar, Central Aceh Regency based on aspects of knowledge, attitudes and actions. This research uses a quantitative approach, with a survey research type. The population in this research is the people in Bewang and Toweren Villages, Central Aceh Regency, using a purposive sampling technique based on predetermined criteria, the number of samples taken was 90 respondents. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire consisting of 30 perception statement items consisting of three indicators, namely past experience (knowledge), culture and background (attitude) and physical condition (action) with five alternative answer choices. Data from the questionnaire were analyzed quantitatively and then presented in descriptive form in the form of diagrams. The results of the research that has been carried out show that the highest percentage is based on past experience (knowledge), namely on the answer choice know (29%) in the conservation of endemic fish in Lake Laut Tawar, Central Aceh Regency, while the highest percentage is based on culture and background (attitude) namely on The answer choice is not agree (28%) in the conservation of endemic fish in Lake Laut Tawar, and the highest percentage based on physical conditions (actions), namely the answer choice is not often (30%) in the conservation of endemic fish in Lake Laut Tawar.
